Mission Statement

It is our mission to improve the quality of life for all citizens through fair and equitable enforcement of city ordinance, state law, and adopted building code.

City codes and ordinances have been created to protect the health, safety, and quality of life for the citizens of Pecos. Code enforcement investigates reports of code violations and ensures that the standards required by City codes are met. Code enforcement works closely with local authorities, contractors and other City departments to bring properties into compliance.

Some of the most common violations reported are:

  • Dangerous structures
  • Substandard living conditions
  • Tall weeds/grass
  • Trash and debris
  • Illegal dumping

Violations & Concerns

If a violation is found, the property owner is notified and given a deadline for compliance. A follow-up inspection is conducted on the due date. If the issue is resolved, the case is closed. If not, a citation may be issued, or in cases where the violation poses a serious threat to public safety or health, the nuisance may be abated.
