What is Required?
Providing your pet with a proper shelter from all elements in the form of a dog house or homemade shelter is required by the State of Texas and the Town of Pecos City.
The shelter is required to have three sides and a roof. The hot weather promotes hot water, so please, be sure to place your pet's water bowl in a shaded area.
Please Note: Your pets must have access to water at all times.
Leaving your dog outside without proper shelter and access to water is considered a form of animal abuse. The extreme heat in our area can result in heatstroke for your animals.
State Law requires a current rabies vaccination tag to be attached to your pet's collar at all times. Rabies shots are only available through a Licensed Veterinarian.
All pets within the city limits are required to have attached to their collar a city license and rabies vaccination tag. Failure to do so is a class C misdemeanor and can result in a citation and/or fine.
Annual city pet license tags are available at the Pecos Animal Control Facility. City License tag is $5 per tag and is non-transferable.
Thank you, Pecos, for your continued support of the Pecos Animal Control Facility!
