Public Notice - Call for Applicants for Planning & Zoning Commission

The Town of Pecos City is now taking applications or anyone interested in joining the PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION. The Planning and Zoning Commission is composed of 5 members and 2 alternate members of the community appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. The Commission's primary responsibility is to make recommendations to the Council regarding land use issues- primary zoning and subdivision plat request. In addition, the Commissioner is charged with deliberating the merits of changes to the Zoning Ordinance, offering amendments and updates to the Comprehensive Master Plan, suggesting alterations to the Old Pecos City Master Plan, supporting the principles of the newly adopted Town of Pecos City Plan and considering other items related to the physical development of Pecos. As a point of information, if the Commission recommend denial of a zoning case, it takes a super majority (6 out of 7) Council vote to approve the request. The Commission meets as needed in open session at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers, 110 E. 6th St. Pecos City Hall.
